Integration of AD with Scientific Toolkits

We are researching the integration of AD with the Toolkit for Advanced Optimization (TAO). Currently, ADIC is being used to compute gradients and Hessians for several example problems. The image, generated using the ALICE Differencing Engine, shows a sequence of solutions and their deviation from the optimal solution for a bound constrained minimization problem. The objective is the surface with the minimal area that satisfies Dirichlet boundary conditions and is constrained to lie above a solid plate.
