| DOE Science Undergraduate Laboratory Internships Program (SULI) and Argonne Student Research Participation Program (SRP) | College and university students may obtain
research experience through DOE's SULI Program or the Argonne SRP Program.
To apply for the DOE SULI program, you must submit an application at the
DOE Web site for this undergraduate program.
Summer program dates: approximately May 30 through August 4, 2006. Application deadline is February 1, 2006. Students who apply for summer consideration must apply to both the DOE SULI program and the SRP program. |
| FaST Program | The Faculty and Student Teams (FaST) Program is a
cooperative effort between the DOE Office of Science and NSF. Faculty from colleges and universities with limited research facilities and those
institutions serving populations, women, and minorities underrepresented in the fields of science, engineering, and technology are encouraged to
apply for the FaST program. The FaST program will support a team comprised of one faculty member and 2-3 undergraduate students from
eligible NSF projects who are accepted as participants. The program provides hands-on research opportunities in DOE national laboratories
during the summer. The faculty member identifies a mutually beneficial research area amenable to collaboration by the faculty member and the
laboratory scientist. To participate, the academic institution must
have an active NSF grant through which a request for supplementary funding
can be written to support the costs of the faculty and student stipends and
travel allowances. Special emphasis is placed on selection of a diverse
population of participants from underrepresented groups. Students identified
for participation on FaST teams should be women and/or African American,
Latino American and Native American. First day Lab will start reviewing on-line applications: February 1, 2006 Last day for on-line application review: approximately April 1, 2006 |
| Cooperative Education | Parallel Co-op: part-time work up to 24 hr/week concurrent
with full-time college/university Alternating Co-op: semester at Argonne, followed by semester at college/university) Application deadline: None (requires approval from university cooperative education office) |
