Spinning a terabyte of disk is now very easy, but analyzing a terabyte of heterogeneous data to extract meaningful information is still a challenge. If the terabytes are in another location, then developing the appropriate middleware to access, explore and transport it is a challenge. Finally, if the data is from separate sources, especially distributed sources, then integrating the data is a challenge. In this talk, we look at three case studies in data mining that address these and related challenges.
