Windows NT Software
There is a beta release of an AG Linux distribution available. It is an
ISO9660 image that can be burned onto a CDROM. It is a bootable CD, based on
the RedHat 6.2 release. Note that the VV software included in this release is
not compatible with the Windows-side VV software released previously. The new
Windows software is available in the "Windows" directory on the CD
image.
The 2000-1103 windows software snapshot is compatible with the new
Linux-side software.
The Linux software can be updated an update script available here.
For installation instructions, see the "Access Grid Linux
Installation" slides
from the September
tutorial.
We plan to make this the main method for installing new AG nodes. We will
also keep the update-script method for updating to new software. Please
anticipate rebuilding your audio and video machines from the CD image,
however, since this brings the whole system up to a more recent software level
(new kernel, security fixes, etc etc).

Some people have had problems downloading via http; in that case the ftp
link may work better. If you have problems, do a checksum on a unix machine.
From a linux box (-s below means to do a sysV checksum, the numbers should
match a sum on a Solaris box. I think.)
% sum -s redhat-2000-0928-2205.iso
23789 1283880 redhat-2000-0928-2205.iso
% sum -r redhat-2000-1103-1529.iso
28955 663532
% sum -s redhat-2000-1103-1529.iso
44050 1327064 redhat-2000-1103-1529.iso
Much of this software is UCL software, compiled for RedHat Linux 6.0 and packaged as
RPMs. You can find more at the MICE
website.
There is a Redhat KickStart configuration file available here. Instructions
for using it for nearly-automated Linux installs are here.
An AG capture machine can be customized from a stock RedHat 6.1 installation using a
single customization script. This script is located at http://www-unix.mcs.anl.gov/~olson/AG/Software/Linux/customize
I am no longer publishing here a list of the RPMs. Instead, I
am maintaining a script http://www-unix.mcs.anl.gov/~olson/AG/Software/Linux/RPMS/update
that when run will install or update the Linux system to the current level of Linux AG
software. You can do this with the following:
lynx -source http://www-unix.mcs.anl.gov/~olson/AG/Software/Linux/RPMS/update
> /tmp/update
sh /tmp/update
This also takes the place of old AG software snapshot tar file.
