Scheduling of Electric Power Systems
Under Uncertainty
Abstract:
One of the goals of any
electric utility is to meet the demand of its customers at a minimal cost.
This is not an easy task due to the large number of generators to be
considered, the operational constraints on the system, and the uncertainty
associated with the system. We introduce a mathematical formulation that
takes into consideration the system's characteristics and the uncertainty
associated with it. We apply this model to the system of the Michigan
Electric Power Coordination Center (MEPCC). Primary results indicate savings of
1-2%in the operating cost.
