Multidisciplinary design optimization (MDO) framework
Pointer is a commercially available analysis automation and design optimization framework. It is well suited for finding the global optimum in constrained, nonlinear engineering problems. Pointer has a set of powerful optimizers at its disposal, including genetic, downhill simplex, and sequential quadratic programming. An adaptive, self-learning control algorithm determines automatically the best hybrid combination of these optimizers as well as their various internal settings (such as step sizes, restarts, iterations). The user need only specify how much time is available to solve his problem, enabling those who are not experts in optimization theory to effectively utilize these powerful techniques.
The Pointer framework is used worldwide by various companies, research institutions, and universities. Pointer's core optimization engine is also licensed to third party software developers for inclusion in their product offerings.
